Liverpool Area Guide

Liverpool is a city in England, not far from the border with Wales, and covers 111.84 square kilometres and has about 580,000 inhabitants. It is the capital and one of the metropolitan districts of the County of Merseyside, along with the districts of Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral.

In turn, the city is divided into several districts and the best ones to stay in are the central ones. The most central district by far is Liverpool City Centre, as its name suggests. This district in turn contains smaller districts, all with their own characteristics! One of the most central is definitely the Cavern Quarter, where Mathew Street and numerous clubs are located. This is followed by the Liverpool Waterfront, the area overlooking the River Mersey, and the inner districts of Ropewalks, Baltic Triangles and Georgian Quarter.

Areas to avoid: Among the areas to avoid, because they are far from the centre and may be unsafe at night, are Croxteth, Norris Green, Northwood, Kirkby and Toxteth, located in the suburbs.

Liverpool City Centre / Cavern Quarter

saint george s hall liverpool 2 One of the most central parts of Liverpool City Centre is the Cavern Quarter, one of the best areas to stay in Liverpool, along with the Waterfront. Here you will be close to most of the attractions and the famous Mathew Street with the equally famous Cavern Club. There is no shortage of clubs, restaurants and most of the facilities and accommodation are located here.

Given all these features, Cavern Quarter and the surrounding area is also one of the most expensive areas, but perfect for those looking for nightlife and for those who want to have all amenities at their fingertips. For entertainment, we recommend staying near Mathew Street, while families will find quieter accommodation in the area of St George's Hall Liverpool, the City Hall.

Finally, staying here will allow you to get around on foot. The main attractions are all nearby, as is the Albert Dock. Furthermore, Liverpool Central and Liverpool Lime Street stations are located here.

Average prices in the neighbourhood range from around €40.00 for low-cost accommodation to €230.00 for high-budget solutions - compare the selection of the best accommodation on booking
